I'm a filmmaker and creative producer working across film, locative-media and festival curation. I initiated and am on the steering committee of Bristol City of Film, UNESCO Creative Cities Network, which formed the basis of an Impact Case Study for REF2021. As director of the Cary Comes Home Festival, I explore screen heritage, repertory film and cinematic tourism. I produced the original Looking For Archie Walking tour and map, celebrating Cary Grant’s Bristol connections, which was later developed into an immersive theatre walk with Show of Strength Theatre Company - both with funding from Being Human Festival. In addition, I focus on stardom and performance in a growing body of videographic film criticism on Cary Grant, including BBC Inside Cinema Short, an entry on in the Screen Stars Dictionary and Love Affairs To Remember. I've created various location-based apps including Curzon Memories App, Lost Cinemas of Castle Park App and written about the transition from 35mm film to digital exhibition, which informed an Impact Case Study for REF2014. I co-founded the international Angela Carter Society (ACS) and designed the Get Angela Carter website, raising awareness about Carter's Bristol connections. The ACS has collaborated with UWE Drama and Performance staff and students to develop a theatre walk of Angela Carters Bristol which was performed as part of Being Human Festival. I've published extensively on Carter, adaptation, textual translation and Japan and developed a feature-length screenplay adaptation of Angela Carter's 'Flesh and the Mirror' about Carter's experiences in 1960s Japan, with the support of the BFI Development Fund.
